Here are some general questions that should be asked by the nanny:

  • Will you ever need me to travel with you?
  • Will you need me to stay over and watch the children when you travel?
  • What are the job duties?
  • Is there any housekeeping involved?
  • Do you expect the nanny to do laundry and cooking?
  • Do you need me to run errands or do the grocery shopping?
  • Do you want the nanny to cook dinner for the children or the whole family?

  • Do you have any other household help?
  • Do the children need to go to doctor appointments, lessons, classes?
  • Will I be using my own car or the family car? If so, will I get a gas allowance for using my own car?
  • Will I be getting vacation time and if so, do I get to choose when it is or is it when you take yours?
  • Will I get sick days and paid holidays?
  • What are you paying hourly or salary?
