I am having trouble logging in...

If your still having trouble logging in after clicking on the activation link, check your activation email to make sure you are entering the correct log-in information.

Is NannyCare.com really a free service?
Yes! NannyCare.com is free but if you would like to upgrade to a Featured profile then it does cost a small fee. Our free service allows you to create a profile, view other member's entire profiles and search for provider and caregivers near you. You will also be able to use all of the free resources, articles, tools and forms on the site. You can also opt to receive our weekly newsletter that's filled with great tips and resources.

What is a Featured Profile and how much does it cost?
Providers, Caregivers and Businesses can opt for a Featured Profile and stand out amongst their competition. Featured Profiles will show up first when doing a caregiver or job search. They also come with our NannyCare.com Approval stamp. Featured Profiles cost $29.95/month and are on a month to month basis. For businesses, Featured Profiles include an e-mail address and website, as well as show their awards and achievements. All Featured Profiles automatically renew at the end of the billing cycle so that services are not interrupted.

How do I edit my profile?
Simply go to "Profile" in your member area and click on "Edit Profile" from the drop down menu. You will be able to edit your profile and submit changes. If you have any questions please visit our FAQ area or use our contact form to send us an email.

How do I upgrade my account?
At any time  you can simply buy a Featured Profile by going to your profile page and going to Profile ---> Edit Profile.
Click here to upgrade your account.

Can I put my account on hold?
Yes, members may use the contact form to request that their membership be put on hold. Please allow for 1-3 days for your membership to be changed over to hold status. By putting your membership on hold, you will be able to contact us when you are ready to become an active member again and soon after be able to utilize all of our services. Another option is to just make your profile viewable to only your friends. Members can easily go into their privacy setting and change "Who can view your information" to friends only. This way you will not come up in any searches.

I forgot my user-name and password...
If you forgot your password, go to the log-in page and click the link that says "Forgot your password?" If you forgot your user-name, reference the email that was sent to you from NannyCare.com when you first registered.

I never received an activation email...
There are a couple of reasons why this might have happened. First, check your bulk or spam email folder to confirm the activation email didn't go into your spam folder. If you don't find the activation email in your bulk/spam folder and still can't find it, you may have misspelled or incorrectly entered your email address on the registration form. Confirm that you entered the correct email address when registering by trying to create a new account with that email. If the original email you entered was incorrect, the registration form will enable you to create a new account with the correct email. If the original email was correct, you will be alerted that an account already exists with that email.

How do I opt out of receiving emails and newsletters?
Simply go into your member area and click on the Profile tab. Next click on Privacy on the drop down menu and you can opt out of receiving emails and newsletters.

How do I delete my account?
You will need to log into your account and go to your member area. From there you will click on the Profile tab and click on "Preferences" on the drop down menu. You will then click on "Delete Profile". By doing this, you are deleting your entire profile, friends, favorites, emails etc. Only choose this option if you want to completely be removed from NannyCare.com. If you are a paid member then your account will continue being charged the monthly subscription fee until you contact us in writing that you would like to cancel your account. If you are unsure if you will need our services in the future, then it is a good idea to cancel your subscription services (if you are a paid member) and downgrade to a free membership. This way if you choose to come back later you still have all your information saved in our system and can quickly access all of our services again. It is highly recommended that you keep your account open for at least a month after you have found a nanny or caregiver since work relationships don't always work out. This also goes for nannies and caregivers who start new jobs. If your job doesn't work out, then you can easily start looking for a new position. You may also contact NannyCare.com and ask to put your account on hold status. You may then come back to us later and activate your account when you are ready to use our services again.

Family FAQ

How does NannyCare.com work?
NannyCare.com is a free online service that matches families and individuals with people who are providing the services they need in the areas of child care, senior care, special needs, tutoring, pet care, personal assistants and housekeeping. If you have a need for one of these types of care or are looking for a job in one of these areas, join NannyCare.com  to do a search in your area. After you've found matches, simply contact the members through NannyCare.com's email system or by adding them as a friend. Check out our "How It Works" page to find out more.

What are the different types of care and home help?
Nanny - A nanny is employed by a family in either a live-in or live-out basis and can be full time or part time. The function of a nanny is essentially to be responsible to care for all the children in the home in a largely unsupervised setting. Duties are typically focused on childcare and any household chores or tasks related to the children. A nanny may or may not have any formal training; however, many have significant actual experience. A full time nanny typically works at least 40 hours a week while a part time nanny works an average of 20 hours/week. Most live-out nannies are paid between $12-$20/hr depending on their experience level. Live-in nannies are paid between $400-$800/week plus room and board (depending on experience).

Newborn Nanny (Infant Specialist or Baby Nurse) - A newborn nanny is an experienced nanny with very extensive training in newborn care. She has extensive knowledge of babies, feeding and scheduling. She supports breastfeeding and bottle-feeding. She is there for nighttime feedings while the new mother gets the rest she needs. If the baby is breast-feeding, the nanny will bring the baby to the mother, help position the baby and carry the baby back to the nursery when the baby is done. A newborn nanny will also organize the nursery and is familiar with an apnea monitor, feeding systems and other medical equipment. She can discern problems like jaundice and reflux and alert you if these things occur. If the baby has problems with colic and has fussy periods, she knows the techniques for reducing baby discomfort and getting them to calm down. A newborn nanny will do the baby's laundry every day and help with light housekeeping, as well as meals. She will teach you to change diapers, bathe and feed the baby, or she will do it all for you. She will hold and cradle the baby throughout the day, but knows when it's time for you to be alone with your new family. Most newborn nannies are paid between $15-$25/hr depending on their nursing backgrounds and experience.

Special Needs Nanny - There are different levels of special needs ranging from mild autism to severe physical disabilities. It is best to hire someone with special needs experience or a background in Special Education, if possible, since these types of jobs are much different than regular nanny jobs. A special needs nanny will need to understand what the special need is and know what to do in different types of situations. They must have a calm demeanor, a natural love for helping others, be extremely patient and persistent. In addition, they must have the understanding and ability to build upon strengths and give support through weaknesses. Most special needs nannies are paid between $15-$25/hr depending on their experience and what the special need is.
Please see the definition of Caregiver to read more about some of the duties that may be required.

Tutor - A private instructor that tutors your child(ren) in your home. This person has the training and background in the subject(s) to provide correct instruction. Often this person is a teacher or undergraduate student at a university. Most tutors are paid between $15-$25/hr depending on their educational background and experience.

Housekeepers - Housekeepers work in all types of homes, from small apartments to large estate homes. The position involves daily maintenance of the home as well as heavy cleaning. Some housekeepers have formal training and others just have years of experience.  A housekeeper works either full-time or part-time, on a live-in or live-out basis. Housekeepers usually work alone, but should the needs of the home demand multiple staff, they may work as a team with other housekeepers. Most housekeepers are paid between $12-$20/hr depending on their experience.
Typical responsibilities of a housekeeper include: Cleaning the interior of the home, laundry and ironing, linens, assisting with the cooking and serving of guests, making the beds, polishing the silver, organizing drawers and straightening closets, running errands including the grocery shopping, maintaining stock of cleaning and household supplies, caring for household pets, and tending to house plants.

Personal Assistants - Personal assistants are responsible for working in the employer's home in the management of household, personal, and professional needs. Personal assistants have excellent managerial, communication and interpersonal skills. They understand protocol and etiquette and have the ability to organize and prioritize multiple activities. Most personal assistants have a Bachelor's degree in addition to professional experience in a corporate setting. Most personal assistants are paid between $15-$25/hr depending on their educational background and experience.
Typical duties of a Personal Assistant include: handling the bills, making travel arrangements, traveling with the employer, serving as an office assistant, handling correspondence, creating inventories, organizing the office and handling media inquiries, planning special events and parties, managing construction projects or home improvements, scheduling of staff and maintenance personnel, coordinating personal schedules and daily activities, running business and personal errands, and maintaining social activities.

Caregiver - A caregiver is a person who aides either an elderly person who is chronically ill or disabled or a young person with severe physical or emotional challenges. Caregivers can live in the home or out, and can work a few hours per week or many hours per day. Caregiver duties are tailored to the individual's needs and each caregiving job is unique.

There are several common caregiver duties such as: dressing assistance, personal grooming, bathing, transferring a person to their bed, chair, toilet, vehicle etc., toileting, meal preparation and serving, receiving mail and newspapers, housekeeping, laundry and linens, transportation, errands and shopping, companionship, aiding in occupational or physical therapy, assisting in light excursive, escorting to appointments and events and participating in games and activities. Most caregivers are paid between $12-$20/hr depending on their experience and what duties are required.

Senior Companions - A companion is a person employed to accompany, assist, or live with another in the capacity of lending a helpful hand and being a caring friend. Most companions will use their own vehicle for driving (for doctor's appointments, medication pick up, grocery shopping and running local errands) as well as help with accounting & bills. Some companions will also help with housekeeping (they usually are paid more for this). Most companions are paid between $12-$20/hr depending on their experience.

Odds n Ends Jobs - These types of jobs are usually temporary and/or revolve around specific projects. Some examples are running errands, shopping, organizing, gift wrapping, helping with packing and moving, special events and temporary childcare.  These jobs can be similar to personal assistant duties but are short term. Most odd n end jobs pay between $12-$20/hr.
Pet Sitters- Pet sitting consists of taking care of all types of pets in the comfort of their own surroundings. The purpose of pet sitting is to limit the stress of the pet while the owners are away for the weekend or a long vacation. Pets seem to do better when they are in their own home with their own bed and blanket, their own toys and their own buddies (other pets). Pet sitters provide this luxury by making daily visits to care for the pets. Some common pet sitting duties are: walking dogs, giving treats, refilling water and food bowls, snuggling and petting, playing fetch, cleaning up messes, the litter box or cages and administering medications. Most pet sitting jobs pay between $12-$20/hr depending on the duties and how often they are needed.

What safety precautions does NannyCare.com take?

  • Member Approval-All Profiles are Reviewed and Approved by the NannyCare.com Team. This means that the member's profile meets our site guidelines, it does not mean that we have verified the member's information such as references, CPR credentials or background checks. You will need to do this on your own or you may purchase one of our NannyCare.com help packages such as our "Reference Checking Package" for $99 or our "Complete Screening Package" for $249.
  • Limited Personal Information-NannyCare.com hides all personal information such as last name, phone number and address and allows members to communicate through their own NannyCare.com email and message center or through the "Add a Friend" feature. The only personal information that is shared and viewable is your first name, zip code and city. This allows for members to decide when they want to give out their personal information, usually when a family or job provider wants to contact you in person to discuss a job or vice versa.
  • Background Checks-NannyCare.com has partnered with BackgroundChecks.com to offer you great deals on background checks.  It is recommended that you run a background check on any nanny or caregiver that you are considering to hire. The recommended background check for nannies and caregivers through BackgroundChecks.com is $19.95 (except in CA, CT and MN it is $23.45) and includes a Social Security number verification, a national criminal database search, and a state sex offender registry search. If you need to run further checks or search a county and federal courthouse records then there are additional fees for these services. It is also recommended that employers run a Department of Motor Vehicles search especially if your nanny or caregiver will be driving with your children. There is only a $7.00 fee for this, however, the caregiver will need to purchase this herself or get a copy from her local DMV.
  • Encrypted  Messaging System-All communication between members happens through messaging on the site. Every member will receive their very own NannyCare.com email. Members may also contact each other through NannyCare.com's "Add as Friend" feature. This way, none ever has access to your personal information. We let you decide when you are ready to give you personal information such as phone numbers, emails and addresses to other members. Nanny Care also monitors messages for spam, scams, and inappropriate content.
  •  Free Tools and Forms-NannyCare.com's Team has put together sample tools and forms to help you safely find your nanny. These forms include a sample nanny application, sample interview questions, sample reference calling questions, a sample nanny contract, medical release forms and orientation forms. It is a great idea to use these forms since they have been formed by nanny agency experts with over 10 years in the industry. We've also included several articles on the website that are safety related and very informative.
